In 2004 Lucy returned to her home town, where she served as the Addictions Services Director at the Fellowship House for 10 years, and on the Board of Addictions Victorious Inc. In January 2014 along with her husband Wil DuBose, friends and many supporters established a non-profit organization, Faces of Change mission is to provide quality Christ – Centered Services to individuals whose lives have been shattered by life controlling issues. Today Lucy has been clean and sober for over 25 years. She has helped hundreds of individuals struggling with substance abuse find entrance into Christian Drug Programs throughout United States. She is a facilitator; speaker and vibrant preacher sharing God’s Word in a way that is transparent and relatable at churches, retreats, and conferences. She and her husband of 22 years, are whole heartedly committed to the vision God has placed in their hearts for the people in the city of Camden NJ. |

My journey to Christ begins with my mother’s mother (whom I called my nanny), who was radically transformed by Jesus after years of alcohol addiction. Because of her, I grew up learning about Jesus’ love for me. As a teenager, I chose to do things my own way and began drinking and focusing on my social life without God in mind.
At the age of 17, I started attending a youth group at my home church where I truly learned what it meant to be a Christian. Over the next few years, I decided to truly surrender my life to Jesus. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Rutgers University in December 2016 and started to have a deep desire to attend a bible school as my next step. I did not yield to this prompting from the Holy Spirit until my nanny suddenly passed away in February 2017. This led to me committing to the Assemblies of God New Jersey School of Ministry beginning in the Fall of 2017 after making the decision that there is no time to waste. In March of 2018 I began working at an outpatient substance abuse counseling center where I learned the ins and outs of office administration in an outpatient setting. I was promoted in March 2020 to Intake Coordinator where I have learned to conduct the intake process for individuals seeking substance abuse treatment. During this time, I also had the opportunity to get involved with various addiction outreach ministries including Teen Challenge and Faces of Change. It is a deep desire of my heart to be able to do my job in a ministry setting where I can genuinely care for the souls of those who are struggling, pray with them, and create an environment where they can encounter the true hope that only Jesus can bring into our lives. I also believe that the positions that God has allowed me to be in have prepared me for this very moment. I am excited and hopeful to be a considered for this position with Faces of Change |
Christie grew up in a Christian home where she was taught about God from an early age. At the same time, she was raised around loved ones who struggled with addiction and mental health that affected her deeply. She never understood how to properly heal from those battles until she came to know Jesus personally after attending a Teen Challenge program in 2012. She will never forget the day that the bible changed from reading like a different language, something that made no sense, to reading like a love letter from our creator and savior. It is her relationship with Jesus alongside with the amazing village of people that empowers her to walk in freedom from the bondage of addiction that nearly stole her life. She is now able to experience a life of joy and purpose!
Christie has walked through many seasons of life that have prepared her for this God given opportunity to partner with Faces of Change. Christie holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a concentration on addiction studies that was competed through Capella University in 2019. She is an experienced counselor who has spent years working in the substance abuse treatment field, volunteering at church, as well as attending and assisting in the development of support groups for those who struggle with life controlling issues. Christie’s heart longs to see those who walk through the doors of FOC be completely set free, grow in their relationship with Jesus and others, and experience the love, healing, and compassion they so deserve. |

My name is Cesar DeJesus. I am 54 years of age. I am married and blessed with 6 kids and 8 grandkids between my wife and me. For the past 23 years I have been employed by the New Jersey Department of Corrections as a Sr. Correction Officer. The Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to minister and mentor inmates inside the prison walls while performing my duties as a Correction Officer. I consider my job my mission field. I was born and raised in Camden, New Jersey where I have been through a lot and seen a lot of drug addiction within my family and friends. I have been attending Calvary Assembly of God in Pennsauken for the last 25 years where my wife and I have been involved in many ministries, committees and missions trips. When Faces of Change came along I knew that this was a ministry that I wanted to be a part of. Helping others is what the Lord calls us to do. Being able to talk to people about Jesus and how much He loves them and that their lives matter is more rewarding than words could ever express. The most amazing part about FOC is that I get to serve with my wife. Because the Lord has given her my same heart- a heart to serve. I am just a vessel willing to be used at whatever capacity He calls me to do. “BOOTS ON THE GROUND!”

Hello, my name is Sheila V. Hernandez. I have been married to my husband Robert Hernandez for over forty years and have two adult children. I am a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Blackwood and serve in the children’s ministry. I am currently enjoying retired life.
I have been involved as a department leader for Faces of Change for over 8 years. I have held several positions since I started. First with the clothing station and then became an outreach leader for our backpacking team and for the last few years I have been a facilitator for our addiction’s meetings. I have never personally struggled with alcohol or drug addiction but my sister who passed away last year did. I know the struggle of being on the other side of addiction and I am compassionate towards not only the one actively struggling but the family member as well. Even though I have never struggled with a substance I have had other life controlling issues in my life that I have had to overcome. This common ground allows me to relate to those we are helping. The ministry of FOC changed my life forever. I’m passionate about this ministry because I see lives changed and transformed by the power of God. I can bring the love of God to our hurting friends, and nothing brings me more joy. We are given the opportunity to pray and bring hope to the broken hearted and tell them that there’s hope and that hope is Jesus Christ. He is the answer out of their addiction. I believe with all my heart that Faces of Change is God’s lifeline to reach them. It is an honor to work with this ministry and I am grateful to be able to serve the Kingdom of God with the gifts He has given me. |
My name is Quiomayra Figueroa, and I was born in Camden, NJ and raised in the town next door in Pennsauken, NJ. I have a bachelor’s degree in Law and Justice, and I am certified as a Financial Coach. I have been serving the Lord and saved for seven years and counting. My heart’s desire is to give God the glory in every part of my life, and this includes serving people in all walks of life. I’ve been volunteering with Faces of Change since the ministry began hitting the streets serving chicken noddle soap to our friends in Camden and backpacking hitting the streets evangelizing. This ministry means a lot to me because of the city I call home we serve. The need is great from a variety of addictions to homelessness and other barriers that our friends in Camden may have. To extend love and be part of the lifeline of HOPE as someone has given me before I was saved and continually extend to me now is the reason why I serve. I too had people I love dearly suffer from addiction. Some have been freed and some have not, but I won’t give up on them. I’m serving alongside my Faces of Change family to reach the whole City of Camden as they are not giving up either.

My husband, Steve and I moved to this area 12 years ago from north Jersey and currently live in Cinnaminson. We have attended Converge Church, formally Maranatha Christian Fellowship in Moorestown since 2010.
We served in our church’s quarterly Camden ministry for about 8 years, giving out bags of food and serving drinks at the CVS parking lot early on Sundays. I learned of FOC there and contacted Lucy Dubose hoping to have a greater involvement and relational impact with the people of Camden. For 3 years or so, we’ve been supplying bananas and oranges for FOC outreaches. My desire was to add a bit of nutrition to our blessing bags since I am a health enthusiast. I have participated in FOC’s Sunday outreaches, some support meetings, trainings, our fall retreat and visited Teen Challenge New Jersey with the Madlin Team. I am committed to getting to know and love our Madlin girls and have enjoyed praying with them and for them since I became part of the team fairly recently. I came to know the Lord through Christian radio about 40 years ago. It is my desire to follow Jesus more and more with each increasing year. I have been very active in children’s ministy for a long time, teaching handicapped children, preschoolers, and for the last 10 years teaching 1st – 6th graders on Wednesday nights. God called me to ‘feed my sheep” and “feed my lambs”. On Tuesday mornings, I lead a very faithful prayer group. That has been the anchor of my week for years. Since I’ve been a child of God, my heart has always been for missions. The picture above is taken at our church’s Trunk or Treat this year. That’s me redeeming Halloween as a shepherd with sheep. |
Joelle Clark was saved on January 1, 2011, and her relationship with Jesus Christ has totally transformed her decades-long struggle with depression, anxiety, and panic disorder. She has been serving with Faces of Change since 2015, and has a passion and heart for the lost, especially those struggling with depression and addiction. A seasoned small group leader and discipler of women, Joelle has a varied background with extensive experience in retail & marketing, corporate administrative, and creative arts. She has spent the past few years of her life working toward becoming a Peer Support Specialist and is employed by Catholic Charities as a group facilitator. One of her favorite verses is Psalm 40:1-3 "I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in Him."
